Did anyone see the movie What About Bob? Someone must have…

I was young but I could relate. I could easily relate to both characters.

Of couse I could relate to Bob. I think we all can relate to Bob at one time or another in our lives...but I also could relate to his Doctor. I understood his frustration although I could not understand his anger. It is an emotion I rarely feel, and it takes quite a lot to get me there.

Of course by the end we are all rooting for Bob. It is inadvertently a tale of Good vs. Evil. A truly triumphant finale with a message...

Baby Steps!

Baby steps are vital. That is truly how I started to heal and grow leaps and bounds.

It can be something as simple as picking up your clothes off of the floor. Running the dish washer. Walking a mile around the block. Returning a phone call. Sending a belated birthday card.

All of these things at one time were an effort and became little ( and not so little) victories for me. And then it grew.

I know it was a comedy but for me it had a deeper meaning...

Our course of action, no matter how small, as long as we are able to maintain our senses all the while evolving and striving for a better future is the trophy we hope to achieve but never really have to display. We may keep this trophy locked away only for our own view, but it is a reminder of our accomplishments no matter how big, no matter how small, no matter how long it took us to get to the finish line. All that matters is that we got there.
