Do narcissists always have to give you a hard time?

Yes, absolutely they do.

Just when you think it is smooth sailing, out of nowhere the pwNPD will say something that will literally rock your world.

It seems to come out of left field and if you even give them the courtesy to discuss this ridiculous accusation, statement, observation, or anything pertaining to how wrong, bad, or terrible you are…there will not be a discussion. Not a normal one…

If they don’t storm off leaving you totally baffled, you more than likely will get a good talking to or get ready for a screaming match…if you are even up for yet another one…

If this is a new occurrence in the relationship, you are left utterly speechless, wondering what you could have possibly done wrong…however, if this becomes a daily occurrence, more than likely you are simply exhausted and let them ramble on about all of your shortcomings and hopefully by this point you have learned to tune them out because believe me…they will go on and on and on until they sound like a broken record and if you have the strength, you get up, walk out of the room, let them continue with their tantrum and you just try and go on with your day because more than likely, whatever it is they are saying to you is bat sh*t crazy!
