Is There A Type of Person That Can Actually Get Along Well With a Narcissist and Form a Lasting Relationship?
Are you a person who has an unlimited supply of Valium that you can take 10 of at any given moment? What about a tiny vile of opium you carry around in your purse…(is opium even around anymore?)
My point is…it would go beyond being patient and understanding. It would go beyond anything in my realm of rational thinking because who on earth would want a lasting relationship with a narcissist?
What exactly would you be getting out of this relationship? Do you believe there would be a bond or a deep connection?
What about support, caring, and most especially love. Do you honestly believe that you would be shown real love and affection in this ‘lasting relationship with a narcissist?’
I suppose a type of person who could stand living this horror of a life would basically be silent most of the time. Speaks only when spoken to, and only a response that would be deemed acceptable for said narcissist. Someone who never gets to decide where they go for dinner. What movie to watch. Pleasant. Smiles. Never confrontational. Not argumentative. Someone who doesn’t stand up for themselves, or defends themselve when being accused of some insane accusation…so basically, we are talking about a robot.
It would take the equivalent of some sort of robot to form a lasting relationship with a narcissist but don’t forget…even robots are programmed to say and do certain things…I suppose it is very simple for someone to simply remove their batteries because isn’t that essentially what a life with a narcissist is? Depleted of anything alive inside of you. Everything that is you is slowly and insidiously taken away.
Why would anyone even consider this as a reasonable possibility? Why would anyone want this life?
Okay, sure…I’ll bite. I’m sure there is someone out there who could have a lasting relationship with a narcissist but if this is the life you choose, make sure that Valium is handy at all times and have a shrink, lawyer, and private investigator on retainer because I promise you…you are going to need some serious help.
