Why Do Narcissists Never Give In? Are They Afraid You Will Outshine Them?
A narcissist is essentially a three-year-old
They already know that you outshine them…that’s why they chose you in the first place. Their goal is to not have you catch on.
A narcissist will never give in for several reasons. First, think of a three year old. When you tell a three year old they are not allowed to do something, something they did was wrong etc, how many three-year-olds turn to you and say…”You know what? You’re right. I was behaving badly.” That just doesn’t happen and since a narcissist is essentially a three-year- old, don’t expect anything different.
They also refuse to give in because in their eyes, this is a sign of weakness. A narcissist refuses to be thought of as weak. Within the strongest relationships I know of there is constant give and take. Sometimes you give in, and sometimes they do, but there will be no giving in where a relationship with a narcissist is concerned. Ever.
And personally, I think they just love to make you as angry as humanly possible. So, not giving in ever would make any normal human being angry…they just love to get a rise out of you. To get a reaction. It doesn't really matter if it's positive or negative. It's all fuel..(supply) and the longer you continue to give them fuel, the worse it is going to get.
Please get out before you waste a literal lifetime on a person who not only will never give in, they will make your life a living hell. Every day is a chance to turn it all around. If you are still living a life with one, please leave and find some happiness. Some peace. Don’t wait around for them to change…it is never going to happen.
